Congrats
to Alfred Guillen of Missouri, the winner of our 2008 Nissan
Titan PRO-4X Project Truck!
March

We're
excited to share these photos of the Titan with you. How
nice looking is this truck?
Stay

We've
contacted the winner in Missouri but can't announce their name
quite yet.
And
the truck is done! The Titan looks awesome. Picture will be
posted on Friday March 21.

We
have a winner! We'll be contacting them today.
And
we're still working on the wheels.
March
11, 2008
We've
got some good news and some bad news. Well, not bad but rather
challenging.
The
good news is we mounted the Pirelli Tires on the custom wheels
and they look awesome.
The
bad news - well, when we went to put the wheels on the
truck they rubbed against the front brake calipers. Doh! We
tried spacers, and even thought about doing adaptors, but in
the end we decided to machine a second brand new set of centers
for the wheels (remember, these are two piece rims).
It's
going to take about 5 days or so to water jet out new centers
from billet aluminum blanks and then repaint the wheels. In the
meantime the sweepstakes administrators we hired are hard at
work filtering entries (for duplicates, etc) and getting ready
to draw the name of our winner.
As
soon as the wheels are done, we'll get pictures of the truck
online and finish our long awaited second video.
Thanks
for your patience.
Thanks
to everyone who entered our 2008 Nissan Titan Project Truck Giveaway.
We received over 300,000 entries!
We'll
have final pictures of the truck early next week and will announce
the winner right here by March 21, 2008. And stay tuned for our
final video segment.
We
want to thank all of our sponsors and partners. We couldn't have
done this without your support!
We're
about to add custom-built Rodtana 20-inch two-piece wheels and Pirelli
ATR tires. They have an MSRP of almost $4,000! Here's a picture of the hoop and centerpiece. You can see it matches the Titan's paint scheme perfectly - right down to the paint codes from PPG and Nissan.
Unfortunately, as we were putting the wheels together, we found out the bolts are a bit too long. We're getting new bolts this afternoon, but it's likely we won't be able to mount the wheels until Monday. We'll do everything we can to get final photos of the truck today, but they may not appear on the website until Monday March 10, 2008.
To say we're sorry for any delay finishing the truck today (Friday), here's a shot of the Katzkin leather seats installed in the truck.
How cool do they look?!
After
the sweepstakes ends, check back for our final video and the
announcement of the winner by March 21, 2008!
Here's
a picture of the driver's seat, after it had been reskinned
by Katzkin Leather Interiors.
It matches the exterior paint perfectly.
We're
putting the final touches on our Project Titan. It's just come
out of the paint booth at Syndicate Automotive Concepts with
the amazing black and red color combo you see in the picture
above.
As
we write, custom two-piece 20" billet wheels are being machined
by Rodtana wheels. They'll be mounted next week
with a set of new Pirelli off-road tires. And we've got several
more surprise add-ons planned.
If
you want to win this truck, you've got seven days left to get
your entries in!
To
paint the Titan, we teamed up with San Diego's premier custom
shop, Syndicate Auto
Concepts.
Syndicate's
awesome paint and body work has been featured in magazines, movies
and on television's Speed Channel.
The
following photos chronicle the prep work and kick-off to the
painting process.
First
up was removing all the factory badges, lights, and trim pieces.
Body man Dave Zetina made short work unfastening all the components.
Then
the Titan's stock cloth seats were removed by interior specialist
Randy Moran and sent to Katzkin
Leather Interiors to be reskinned with red and black
custom leather.
Nick
Battaglia is Syndicate's resident artist. He started applying blue
tape to lay out the cutlines between the areas to be painted silver
and red, below the Titan's stock 'Galaxy Black' paint.
Sure
the Titan is getting all new paint, but that didn't make it any
easier to watch Dave prepping the body with sandpaper!
Next,
the Titan was backed into the paint booth and masked off with sheets
of plastic and tape.
Nick
placed a copy of the paint scheme chosen by you, our readers, above
the high grade, top-of-the-line PPG Deltron Paint.
How
good is this paint? Try $400 per gallon good! The Titan would
use over a gallon of 'Torch Red' and two pints of silver for
the middle stripe.
Nick
applies silver paint with an airbrush. Check out the detail in
the light silver striping!
The
first pass applying the red paint and you can still see the original
black skin showing through.
Nick
made 4 passes the first day. And, as you can see, the paint we're
using for the Titan is RED! This truck will not be missed driving
down the street.
We'll
have video in the next few weeks showing you the rest from start
to finish! Wait until you see the Titan's transformation from
anonymous to star!
