MICROBUS MODEL SHOWS VOLKSWAGEN'S CONTINUED INTEREST IN PICKUP TRUCK
by: Michael Levine

The big news from Volkswagen during the 2001 North American International Auto Show was the Samba "Microbus" concept vehicle. Located next to the Samba was this scale model Microbus pickup, which quickly attracted our attention.

If you recall, last year Volkswagen brought its AAC concept pickup to Detroit and Dr. Ferdinand Piech, Chairman of Volkswagen AG, is a well known pickup truck aficionado (his son even drives a Toyota Tundra) but we still don't know if a VW pickup truck will return to these shores though both concepts seem to bode well for this to happen.

The Microbus design study is powered by a 3.2 liter V6 engine with 231 horses under its near vertical nose.
