With all
the news about the Toyota Tundra we thought we'd check in with the folks
at Nissan to see what their strategy is with the Titan full size truck.
Look for
some big announcements at next month's Chicago Auto Show. Following Infiniti's
announcement here in Detroit about a brand new interior for the QX56 full
size SUV, we're also expecting an announcement and preview of a significant
upgrade to the Titan's interior for 2008 and exterior enhancements to
keep it fresh in the market.
Nissan also
continues to study the heavy duty pickup segment. No announcement yet
that entry is imminent, but the Nissan spokesperson said they continue
to study the market and remain very interested. Nissan has just created
a global Lightweight Commercial Vehicle (LCV) group and a heavy duty Titan
would fall under the LCV domain. In the meantime, expect Nissan to look
at "adjacent segments" in the current Titan's 1/2-ton slot.
