Mazda Trucks > 2000 Mazda B-Series

Summary:

When it comes to compact pickup trucks, more equipment is better. This is true of Mazda's rugged B-Series truck line for 2000. Mazda has added more equipment to the B-Series lineup from top to bottom.

The Details:

The 2000 Mazda B-Series is available in three cab configurations - regular cab, two-door extended Cab Plus and four-door extended Cab Plus 4. There are three trim levels - economical SX, upgraded SE and the "take-no-prisoners" extreme look of the Troy Lee Edition. Three models are available, from the four-cylinder B2500 to the V6-powered B3000 to the high-torque V6-powered B4000. Buyers of V6 models also can choose between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. In all, there are 13 B-Series models to choose from.

Among the changes for 2000, larger P225/70 R 15 tires are now standard on all SX models, air conditioning and floor mats are standard on all SE and Troy Lee Edition models, fog lights are standard on all 4x4 models, a heavy-duty payload package is standard on B3000 and B4000 Cab Plus models and a 6,000-pound trailer hitch is standard on B4000 4x4 models.

The B2500 models are powered by a 119-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to either a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with returnless fuel system and automatic transmission, the B2500 models qualify as aLow Emission Vehicle.

The B3000 is powered by a 150-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine and can be mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The B3000 is a Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV), capable of using either regular unleaded gasoline or E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline). The Mazda B3000 is the first FFV import-brand pickup in the United States. B4000 models feature a 160-horsepower 4.0-liter V6 with 220 foot-pounds of trailer-towing, cargo-hauling torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard on the B4000 4x2 and optional on the B4000 4x4.

SE models feature an AM/FM/CD audio system, air conditioning, chrome grille, alloy wheels and floor mats. An anti-theft system is standard on V6-powered SE models. The Mazda B3000 Troy Lee Edition offers the aggressive "take no prisoners" look and ground clearance of four-wheel drive in a 4x2. With a

raised suspension, front and rear skid plates, rear-wheel ABS, fog lights, fender flares, bedliner, 16-inch wheels designed by Troy Lee and extra large tires, the Troy Lee Edition B3000 handles rough terrain like a motocross bike. Troy Lee is a leading-edge graphic designer with a passion for extreme sports. His company, Troy Lee Designs has created painted helmets, speed equipment, and other apparel for extreme-sports enthusiasts for over 17 years.

Troy Lee Edition models feature reflective body-side flame graphics, "Dual Sport" tailgate logo and the Troy Lee Designsâ signature logo on the exterior and gray two-tone seats with silver accent piping, leather-wrapped steering wheel, gray two-tone door panels with a monogrammed Troy Lee Designsâ signature logo and carbon fiber-look trim on the instrument panel and door panels.

The Troy Lee Edition of the top-of-the-line, 4.0-liter Mazda B4000 Cab Plus 4 4x4 is for those enthusiasts who get the urge to leave the road for rugged terrain or rocky backcountry in style. This model receives leather seats, four-wheel drive, front and rear skid plates, custom 16-inch wheels, fog lights, and a trailer hitch with 6,000 lbs. of towing capacity (A/T) -- more than the competition.

All B-Series trucks feature an independent, double-wishbone front suspension and a live-axle rear suspension with leaf springs. A front stabilizer bar is standard on all models and 4x4 models also receive a rear stabilizer bar. Steering is power-assisted rack-and-pinion, and the brakes are front ventilated disc and rear drums. Four-wheel ABS brakes are available on B4000 4x4 models.

Dual de-powered air bags are standard on all B-Series trucks. Mazda also was the first import-brand truck to offer a key-operated passenger-side air bag deactivation switch, which allows the driver to disconnect the air bag when transporting children.

The 2000 Mazda B-Series trucks are covered by a comprehensive three-year/50,000-mile warranty that covers every part on the vehicle except those subject to normal wear. In addition, the B-Series are covered by a five-year/unlimited-mileage corrosion warranty.
