Ford Motor Company is expected to further enhance its lineup of special
edition Harley Davidson F-150
pickups this fall with the introduction of a supercharged SuperCrew model
at the 2001 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
With the
choice of a supercharged SuperCrew, Ford is hoping to make a preemptive
strike at cross-town rival Chevrolet. Chevrolet is heavily rumored to
announce the return of the Silverado
SS, after a 10 year absence, for the 2003 model year later this fall
or early next year in an extended cab, all wheel drive configuration.
A SuperCrew configuration also would not tread too deeply into the Ford
SVT Lightning's turf.
The supercharged
Harley truck will be powered by the same 360hp 5.4L Triton V-8 powerplant
as the Lightning but detuned to around 340 horsepower.
