A discussion thread that popped up on GM Inside News has some disappointing news for fans of General Motors' Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickups. Buyers will have to wait a while longer for a highly anticipated V8 engine option.

The 5.3-liter eight cylinder motor, shared with the Hummer H3 SUV, was expected around the first quarter of 2008, as a mid-year enhancement, but it's been pushed back to the 2009 model year.

Chevy truck spokesperson Brian Goebel says, "What was originally a mid-model year introduction has become a 2009 model year introduction. This was a cost and engineering resource issue that resulted in a decision to postpone the introduction by a few months."
