Chrysler is launching the all-new
2009 Dodge Ram 1500 into the toughest
truck market in decades with prices on all models lower than the outgoing
2008 Dodge Ram's.
Pricing will start at $22,170 for a work-grade regular cab 4x2 V-6 and
top out at $44,140 for a luxury-level crew cab 4x4 V-8. All prices include
a $900 destination charge.
The 2009
Dodge Ram will be offered in two-door regular cab and four-door Quad
Cab and crew cab configurations, with three box lengths: 8 feet (regular
cab), 6 feet, 4 inches (regular cab and Quad Cab) and a new-for-2009
box length of 5 feet, 7 inches (Ram Crew 1500). Chrysler says all the
configurations will fit in a standard garage. Five trim levels are
offered: work-grade ST, midlevel SLT, offroad TRX, street-cruising
Sport and upscale Laramie.
The base power plant is a 3.7-liter V-6 rated at 215 horsepower and
235 pounds-feet of torque. Two V-8 engines are available: a 4.7-liter
V-8 rated at 310 hp and 330 pounds-feet of torque and a 5.7-liter Hemi
V-8 rated at 390 hp and 407 pounds-feet.
Chrysler has eliminated the manual transmission option for 2009; only
four- and five-speed automatic gearboxes are available. Available axle
ratios are 3.21, 3.92 and 4.10.
