Following earlier reports from Edmunds.com that Hyundai is studying the development of a pickup truck for the U.S. market, comes this statement from Kia Motors president Cho Nam-hong. "Isn't it time for Kia Motors to make inroads into the (U.S.) pickup truck market?" said Cho.

Cho's comment was recorded by a reporter from South Korea's Yonhap News Service when Yonhap asked Cho if Kia planned to take advantage of the new U.S.-South Korean free trade agreement to sell pickups in the United States.

The U.S. and South Korea signed a new trade pact on April 2nd. Part of that agreement will phase out current tarriffs of 25% on South Korean built pickup trucks exported to the U.S., between now and 2017.
