What's New for 2000

The Y2K Dodge Ram gets a number of under the skin improvements. All models receive a new front suspension - to improve ride, directional stability and steering precision - and new steering system and brake system. In addition, the 2500 and 3500 models receive a revised rear suspension systems for improved loaded ride quality. The brake system is equipped with dual-piston front disc brake calipers and quick-response vacuum booster for increased performance.

The 1500 Series Club Cab models with the 8 foot box will be discontinued and all 2500 Series Club Cab models will be discontinued.

All-Terrain tires, unique 17x8-inch cast aluminum wheels and 4.10 axle.

In addition, a new SLT+ group, available only on Quad Cabs, is loaded with an exceptional array of options. These include an AM/FM/Cassette/CD radio with Infinity speakers and steering wheel-mounted radio controls, rear under seat storage, power heated leather front seats with adjustable lumbar supports, and cast aluminum wheels. Also on the interior a tachometer is standard in all models. Safety equipment includes dual airbags and a rear-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS).

The Sport Appearance Group package is optional with SLT or SLT+ and includes special colors, body-color front and rear bumpers, a black grille, fog lights, Sport decals, outline white letter tires, and 16 x 7-inch cast aluminum wheels.

1500 Model Specifics

The Ram 1500 Series offers 4 base level trim options Work Special (WS), ST, and SLT, or SLT+. All arrive in two wheel drive, four wheel drive, standard cab, or Club Cab/Quad Cab for a total of 12 combinations.

The WS standard cab and Quad Cab models come with either a 6.5-foot bed or 8-foot bed, while the Club Cab is only available with a 6.5 foot bed - the 8 foot bed on the Club Cab has been discontinued.

Dodge offers three engine choices in the 1500 series, a base 3.9-liter V6 and 5.2- and 5.9-liter V8s. The 5.2L engine is standard on the Club Cab/Quad Cab 2WD trims. Four-wheel-drive trims get either a 5.2L V8 or a 5.9L V8. The available transmissions include a 4-Speed Automatic or 5-Speed Manual.

2500 Model Specifics

The 2500 is available in four trims and six combinations (short or long bed regular cab in 2 or 4 wheel drive, and Quad Cab with short or long bed and 2 or 4 wheel drive). Three engine choices are available including: a standard 5.9L 245-hp V8, a 5.9L 235 horsepower inline six Cummins diesel with 460 lb-ft of torque, and the well renown 8.0L V10 producing 310 horsepower and 450 LB-ft of torque. All engines are available with a 4-Speed Automatic and 5 or 6-Speed Manual transmission.
